Great Lakes Plunge is organized by OWLs, Inc., a not-for-profit dedicated to raising funds to promote safe swimming practices and open water swimming. We have partnered with Evanston-based Precision Multisport to host this annual swim race in Evanston, IL.
Besides stimulating your body and mind, the Great Lake Plunge will raise funds for a very important cause: Evanston Swims! You will be swimming to prevent accidental drownings in the lake and encouraging a new generation of pool and open water swimmers.
Now in its sixth year, Evanston Swims!, in collaboration with the McGaw YMCA, YWCA and the Evanston/Skokie District 65, aims to teach youth how to swim. Starting in second grade, children from the Evanston public grade schools spend one afternoon a month throughout the year learning swimming and water safety skills.
